Khenpo Singa Lama
Sakya Buddhist scholar, teacher, and Khenpo — devoted to the preservation, study, and transmission of the Buddha Dharma.
Biography
Born into the Tamang Dong clan on 29 January 1988 in Pinthali, Kavrepalanchok, Nepal, Khenpo Singa Lama is the son of Dharma Tamang and Nyima Rani Tamang. From an early age he held a strong aspiration to embrace the monastic way of life.
Ordained in 1999, he joined Ngor Monastery in India and completed the required studies and ritual training of the Ngor tradition by 2008. He then pursued higher Buddhist studies at the Sakya Institute of Vajrayana, completing the Shastri degree and Master's level studies in Buddhist Philosophy.
After being selected for the Sakya Primary Teacher Training Program at Sarah College for Higher Tibetan Studies, he graduated as a certified teacher in 2018. He completed a three-year Tantric Studies course and, in 2024, was awarded the esteemed title of Khenpo.
His lifelong commitment remains the preservation, study, and transmission of the Buddha Dharma through education, practice, and service to the monastic community and society.
